Wedding place card sizes: a quick guide

Standard place card size

The most common wedding place card is 89 × 51 mm (3.5 × 2 inches), the same as a business card. A tent card is printed at 89 × 102 mm (3.5 × 4 inches) and folded in half to stand 51 mm tall.

A smaller 76 × 44 mm card (about 3 × 1.75 inches) suits tight place settings, cocktail tables and escort card walls.

How many cards fit on a sheet

Cards are placed edge to edge with a margin around the sheet so home printers can print them.

• Standard tent cards: 4 per A4 or US Letter sheet
• Standard flat cards: 10 per A4 or US Letter sheet
• Small tent cards: 6 per A4 sheet, 4 per US Letter sheet
• Small flat cards: 12 per A4 sheet, 10 per US Letter sheet

Which paper weight to use

Tent cards need stiffer card to stand up: 250–300 gsm (90–110 lb cover) is ideal. Flat cards can go slightly lighter, around 200 gsm.

Matte or lightly textured card looks more premium than glossy and shows less glare in photos.

Font size for names

Names should be readable from a standing position, roughly 18–26 pt for script fonts and 12–16 pt for spaced capitals. Our templates size each name automatically and switch long names to two lines.
